Fantasy Postseason turns 10!
“There are no sites out there that support short term or playoff rotos - so I was thinking, why not create our own?” – and with that simple email in March 2008, the initial concept of what would become Fantasy Postseason was born.
We were just a few guys who had been friends for years, loved sports, and loved fantasy sports. Unfortunately for us, there were no fantasy sites out there that did anything for the postseason (our favorite time of year to play it). To make things worse, the time and effort involved to track everything manually was growing exponentially by the year, and was putting one of our favorite pastimes in serious jeopardy. In lieu of scrapping it forever, we decided at that critical moment to automate it, and wound up creating a site of our own.
The months that followed were intense, but by September 2008, FantasyPostseason.com was somehow up and running, and ready to roll for the MLB Playoffs. Our first users were mostly made up of family members and friends, but slowly but surely our user base started to grow – almost entirely by word of mouth. None of us will ever forget the NHL Playoffs of 2009, when we learned very quickly what the word ‘viral’ meant as one new league was being immediately created after the other - nearly catching us completely off-guard.
At that moment, it is unlikely that any one of us thought we’d survive, but 10 years later here we are. We’d like to thank all the people who have helped spread the word about Fantasy Postseason over the years (our first write-up in a prominent newspaper still brings a smile). We’d also like to sincerely thank all of our users for their loyalty and patience as we have climbed the ladder. We have built our company on trying to offer the best product and customer service we can, and plan to continue to do so into the future. Here’s to another 10 years, and thanks again!
